With every submission, we need:

The photograph(s) you're submitting
The category of your submission
Your name
Where you live
1–3 paragraphs written by you telling us about your picture and what it means to you personally (may be edited).

The picture you send us should be 800 pixels in the longest dimension. Save in sRGB if you know how to do that.

Personal Meaning
A photograph that has special meaning to you. Tell us why!

Photographing Pets or Photographing Kids
Most people know animals or little people who are special to them. What or who is in the picture, and why do you care about them?

Personal Best
Is there a picture you consider the best one you've ever taken? Tell us the who, where, when, how, and why.

Personal Favorite
How about a picture you really like by someone else? Why do you like it? Could be a famous picture, could be one your brother-in-law took.

Family Snapshot
This one should be self-explanatory.

Forgotten Camera
A picture you took using an old, neglected, funky or unusual camera. In this category we need two pictures: A picture of the camera, and the photograph you took using that camera. There are examples on the website.

Found Photo
This category is for orphaned, discarded, stray or lost photographs that pique your interest. Flea market finds, photographs from old archives, or something you found on the sidewalk.

Portrait
Of a person, place, or thing.

Historical Find
For historical photographs you find poignant, meaningful, or beautiful.

If you have a photograph that has particular interest for you, or that you like, or that made you think, but that doesn't quite fit in any of them above categories, try us anyway!

We also publish links to especially poignant pictures and their stories. Let us know if you've found a good one.

The Fine Print: We presume that most photographs people submit will be ones they took themselves. However, Photoborg qualifies as an editorial site, offering commentary on photographs. As such, we publish under the Fair Use provision of the Copyright Act, so you are unlikely to violate anyone's legal copyright by posting a picture here.

Still, it's considerate to ask permission if you can. (This is especially true for the relatively current, relatively private pictures by others you might find on photo-sharing websites.) Basically, just follow the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. All photographs should be attributed to the photographer who took them if possible.

We try to publish everybody's picture eventually, but we can't guarantee it because we never know how many submissions we'll receive. Please be patient, and forgive us if we can't get yours posted. We do try to email everyone when their picture is published.
